Time for an update

During our earlier years, we had a website and blog into which we poured a lot of love to increase organic traffic. Over the years, we felt that the website had become outdated and that it was time for an update.

The new website was to be the starting point in our update of our visual identity. This was to make our new platform more modern, but we also wanted a simpler system that we could edit. This whole process led us to our new Webbson web agency, who helped us develop the new identity and website.

Visual identity

We at Språkbolaget are proud that there is always a human behind the translation, regardless of the tool used. To reflect this in the design, we wanted visitors to experience a personal feel that invites them to read.

We already knew which direction we wanted to take with the design. We had decided to keep the red colour found in our logo, as well as a darker blue for larger sections. We built further on this and developed complementary colours to give more life and depth to the site. To increase brand awareness, the new website incorporates small graphic elements in the primary colour to connect our brand with the new website.

For the new identity, we have brought in two different typefaces. For the primary typeface, we have used a sans-serif to capture the modern and updated feel that is also reflected in the rounder design language. For the secondary typeface, we have chosen Times, which is a classic serif to draw connections to academic texts. This typeface is used to highlight specific words in a large heading, in order to direct focus towards the most important message. To make the page a bit more playful, the typeface has also been used in italics to make small notes along the side of the page.

The result

The project resulted in our updated visual identity, which has now created a consistent thread running through all the different pages of the website. With a smooth and well-planned structure, content and sections can be easily edited and added for a more flexible website. All of this, combined with an SEO-driven mindset, has brought back the joy of writing blog posts.
