Technical translations by translators with industrial expertise
Språkbolaget has an extensive network of technical translators with experience across the most diverse technical fields and who work with many different language pairs.
We offer translation in many different technical fields, including electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, IT, AI, science and research, automotive, aerospace technology, marine engineering, industrial technology, energy, the environment, construction and civil engineering, among others.
Technical translation – a question of professional expertise and terminology
A technical translation is so much more than mere literal translation. Technical texts require precision, profound technical expertise and above all, a knowledge of the industry concerned.
Technical translations may concern handbooks, manuals, user guides for consumer products, product data sheets, safety data sheets, safety regulations, technical and scientific articles, press releases and web pages… to mention but a few examples.
In the case of technical texts, it’s crucial to translate every technical term into the correct target language term for the field concerned, and to make sure the term is understood by the target audience.

It's crucial that technical translations are correct!
When ordering translations, many buyers may fail to reflect on the consequences of technical errors in the texts, but an incorrect translation may lead to costs for the end user, or accidents, damage, injuries and even fatalities. This will have negative repercussions for your business in the form of penalties, compensation and other costs, as well as reduced sales, a tarnished reputation and damaged brand.
Technical texts are usually about providing information on new technology, protecting people and describing the correct use of products. Such information must be unambiguous, consistent, expressed at the right linguistic level for the intended reader and incapable of being misunderstood. Where necessary, a text must also refer correctly to applicable laws, regulations and standards, and in many cases to EU legal acts.
Technical translations and specialist fields
Another common scenario involves a company’s participation in a procurement process. A tender has to make a good first impression, which demands the impeccable use of language, the right terminology for the field concerned, and clearly formulated specifications. Shortcomings in spelling, grammar, phraseology, and terminological consistency can sink a tender on its first reading.
Each technical field requires specialist knowledge to make sure a translation is not only accurate, but also perceived as precise and reliable by the target audience. Our profound industry knowledge is our guarantee that your technical translations will be handled by translators with the right expertise. We make certain every word, every sentence and every technical term is correctly translated and that the text has the right tone. Our translators not only possess language skills and translation expertise, but also specialist knowledge in the relevant technical field. Today, all technical translators use advanced computer-aided tools for information and terminology retrieval, consistency checks and quality assurance. With the aid of our skilled specialist translators, we deliver texts that are technically and linguistically correct, terminologically consistent, tailored to the target audience and put your message across effectively.
We make sure your technical communication is just as effective and clear in other languages as it is in the original. We help you reach a global audience by using the right terminology, flawless language and the appropriate tone and style. We never compromise on quality.

What is demanded of a technical translation? And of a technical translator?
Technical translations cover an incredibly wide field. Information technology (IT), and artificial intelligence (AI) often come into the picture. In these fields, and in every technical field, it’s important to convey complex contexts and present innovations clearly and understandably. Technical texts not only demand a profound understanding of technical terminology, but also an ability to translate specialist terms precisely and clearly. A technical text must put your message across effectively and promote your business. This requires translators who understand every relevant factor and who can deliver top-quality translations that meet your wishes and requirements. Thus the discerning choice is a translation agency with many years’ experience, which works with meticulous care for each individual customer, which knows the industry, its translators and is absolutely committed to every translation project.

Pricing and delivery
How much will your translation cost?
The price of your translation is based on a combination of criteria, such as the text’s subject matter and level of difficulty; the text volume; the target and source languages; and the deadline.
Translation prices are very much about supply and demand. Some languages have fewer available translators within specific subject categories, and the prices are thus higher than for languages and subjects where there are more translators to choose from. Some languages are more labour-intensive than others, and a text may need further adaptation to the cultures of the different target countries. Upload your file for a quotation. If the file is large, we recommend you use WeTransfer.
Do you offer contract prices and volume discounts?
Yes, of course. If you have regular translation needs with large volumes, we'll be happy to offer you a contract price. Contact one of our project managers here.
Do you charge extra for express delivery?
We charge an additional 10–100 % for express delivery. Express delivery costs more because the translator has to put other assignments on hold and may have to work overtime to complete yours. In most cases, the work will be completed quickly even without express delivery, so the surcharge may not be necessary. Upload your file with the proposed delivery date for a quotation. If its a large file, we recommend you use Wetransfer.
How quickly can I get my translation?
Delivery times depend primarily on the availability of a suitable translator and the volume of text. A good rule of thumb is to assume a translator has the capacity to translate around 2,000 words per day. On top of this come project management, language checking and file handling. When you receive a quotation from us, we also provide a delivery date. If you have a specific deadline to meet, please state this in your request for quotation and we’ll take it into account. If you’re in a particular hurry, we offer an express service where you can get your text translated extra quickly. Request a quotation here.
Translation process and quality
What does your working process involve?
Our standard work process involves a native-speaking translator with specialist expertise in the relevant field who translates and reviews their own text. After that, a different translator steps in to review the text again. As a regular client, you have the opportunity to use the same translator and the same project manager every time. We can set up specially tailored work processes and workflows for different types of projects. Contact us if you'd like to discuss your project with one of our project managers. We've spent many years honing our work process. Read some of our client case studies here.
Who translates my text?
