The assignment

We translate financial documents for Svea Bank; including annual reports, audits, year-end accounts, corporate presentations, press releases and business documents, as well as marketing material such as brochures and roll-ups. The material is primarily translated from Swedish into English. The texts are complex, containing very specific economic and financial terminology. We frequently work towards a publication date that cannot be missed, which means the translation process must be fast and efficient.

The financial texts we translate for Svea Bank contain a lot of figures and many tables. Getting all the numbers and the text in tables and diagrams to look just as good in the translated document is a challenge, as numbers and dates are formatted differently in different languages, and text translated from Swedish almost always expands in the new language. Because documents are formatted for the source language, text boxes and tables have to be adjusted to make the text fit.
